S E S S I O N 1:
"Leadership Begins By Charting Your Course For Personal Growth."
The growth potential of the organization is multiplied when the leader embraces a learning culture, and develops the habits and processes to foster wide organizational acceptance of continuous learning. This session helps leaders clarify direction, context, priorities, opportunities, and expectations to renew the energy, creativity and focus of the organization. Learning leaders use eight important senses to orient themselves, and to help them teach others to think for themselves, take ownership, offer ideas and solutions, and actively participate in the progress of the group. The strength of the culture can be measured by the quality of the questions it asks. Examine and discuss the value of non-directive learning as it is applied to organizational life.

"Learning That Leaders Are The Ones Who Take Action."
Leadership is about moving beyond the present into a better future. Accomplishing the journey is absolutely dependent on working through uncertainty and meeting the challenges of navigating new territory without having all of the answers in advance. Improving your leadership ability requires you to take reasonable risks, and overcome the ease and comfort of staying where you are. Creating positive change in the organization is facilitated by your style of leadership, your involvement of others, your passion, and your willingness to set aside self interest and work for the benefit of all. The culture of your organization will either enable or inhibit progress, but in all cases, leadership requires courage and the willingness to endure criticism.

"Leadership Is About Seeing The Future And Sharing The Vision."
Real progress begins by seeing beyond the present and imagining a better future. Then, the power of that vision is released, allowing you to reach a new ideal - while working through uncertainty and finding your way in unfamiliar territory. Adapting to any new environment requires you to take reasonable risks, and overcome the ease and comfort of staying where you are. Creating positive change in the organization is facilitated by your style of leadership, your involvement of others, your passion, and your willingness to set aside self interest and work for the benefit of all. The culture of your organization will either enable or inhibit progress, but in all cases, leadership requires the courage of vision, and the willingness to endure criticism.

"Leadership Means Investing Your Time And Energy Into People."
The greatest leaders have learned that their time and energy is well-directed when they focus on bringing out the best in the people around them, and by giving them opportunities to participate, innovate, and succeed. Investing for leaders is about understanding how people think, what they want, and what they value beyond simple compensation. Leaders work to motivate, encourage, and retain their best people, by giving them the structure, resources, and freedom to make them productive, while focusing on their strengths. Passion and ability make a powerful combination for success, but leadership effectiveness requires moving beyond your own efforts, and productively engaging others.

S E S S I O N 5:
"Your Character Says More About Your Ability To Lead Than Any Other Attribute."
'Who you are' goes well beyond 'what you do.' People who you seek to lead, will first judge if you can be trusted. And that boils down to your character. The power of your 'title or position' to make demands of others will only get you minimum performance. The consequences of this effect depend greatly on the core principles of the leader. Symmetry looks at the 'being' side of leadership, and reveals the importance of character and personhood in releasing the potential of people, encouraging ownership, innovation, and the willingness to risk. The 'big picture' issues are values, integrity, ethics, to have sustainable long term effectiveness in leading others. Character is about developing the self, and making conscious choices for substance over style.

"Communication Keeps Leaders And Followers Together."
Accomplished leaders lead from the front, the middle, and the back of the pack. Communication goes far beyond the words of the leader, but is also strongly influenced by a host of unspoken messages which are delivered through the actions and ideals of the leader. Healthy, two-way communication is essential to maintain momentum, motivation, understanding, perspective, and keeping collective efforts focussed on the goals and objectives of the organization. Listening is a leadership skill that connects leaders and followers.
